Emerson Cutler Majestic Theatre
The Emerson Cutler Majestic Theatre has been giving Tremont Street a reason to dress up since 1903. Designed for opera and large-scale musicals, it later hosted vaudeville and movies before Emerson College bought the deteriorating building in 1983. The college completed its restoration in 2003, the theater’s 100th anniversary.
Today, the soaring arches, stained glass and ornate detailing give you plenty to look at before the curtain rises. The programming includes theater, dance, music and comedy, with professional artists and Emerson students sharing use of the historic stage. Pick a performance that interests you and give yourself a little time to take in the room.
