Flavor Flav shows up for Cambridge kids with a full drop of sports gear

A hip-hop legend just made a real impact in Cambridge.

Flavor Flav was in the city this week, not for a show, but to give back.

In partnership with Harvard College and Franklin Sports, he donated a full lineup of sports equipment to the Frisoli Youth Center in Cambridge.

What he brought

The donation was not small. It covered everything kids actually use:

  • Basketballs
  • Dodgeballs and volleyballs
  • Soccer balls and nets
  • Tennis balls and kickballs
  • Footballs and gloves
  • Basketball pumps
  • Cornhole sets

It is the kind of gear that immediately gets used, especially in after-school programs.

Why it matters

The Frisoli Youth Center is one of five city-run youth centers in Cambridge, operated by the Department of Human Service Programs.

It serves:

  • Students in grades 4 through 8 with after-school programming
  • Teens ages 14 to 19 with evening programs

The goal is simple. Give kids a place to stay active, build relationships, and figure out who they are.

The City of Cambridge describes the mission clearly: creating a space where young people can grow, connect, and develop new skills.

A different kind of appearance

Flavor Flav is best known as a founding member of Public Enemy and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee.

This time, he showed up in a different role. No stage. No performance. Just direct impact.

And for the kids at Frisoli, that kind of visit sticks.
