Wink and Nod

Wink & Nod pairs a South End cocktail bar with a kitchen that changes hands through its chef residency program. The current resident is Black Cat Eatery from Dorchester chef Valentine Howell, whose food draws on Afro-Caribbean cooking. Check the current menu when you reserve, since a dish from an earlier visit may belong to a previous residency. Drinks get just as much attention: Scorched Rose combines chili-infused rum with coconut cream, lime and rose water, while My Favorite Things uses browned-butter bourbon and maple syrup. There is an extensive whisky selection, tasting flights and nonalcoholic drinks. Come for dinner as well as cocktails, with reservations available through the restaurant’s website.
