Vermilion

Vermilion sits on the mezzanine at Winthrop Center, with a Dale Chihuly sculpture above its long bar. Chef John Fraser’s menu includes steakhouse orders such as filet mignon and ribeye, but French onion dumplings, mushroom carpaccio and tomato tartare deserve a look before you get to the cuts of beef. Seafood includes oysters and Jonah crab tagliatelle.

Lunch has a shorter express-menu option, useful when you want a sit-down meal without working through the entire dinner list. Cocktails and wine are available at the bar, and larger desserts are designed for sharing. Reservations are offered, along with arrangements for private groups. This is a restaurant open to diners, despite the former Vermilion Club name.
