Seoul Jangteo
Seoul Jangteo at 151 Brighton Avenue serves Korean soups and stews alongside Korean-Chinese noodle dishes. Its jjajangmyeon combines house-made wheat noodles with black bean sauce cooked with pork and vegetables. Ganjjajang comes with a separately stir-fried sauce, and the menu also has spicy and seafood versions. The restaurant notes that pork cannot be removed from the black bean sauce base.
On the soup side, choices include pork gukbap, spicy beef soup, soft tofu stew and soybean paste stew. Rice comes alongside the soups, making them a complete meal for one. If you’re eating with friends, it’s easy to mix noodle orders with bowls of soup. For a meat-free meal, ask about the specifically available vegan stew preparations rather than assuming a vegetable topping means the broth is vegetarian.
