Parish Cafe and Bar
Parish Cafe builds its sandwich menu around Boston chefs, giving each contributor room to make something much more involved than a turkey club. The Boylston Street restaurant opened in 1992, and that idea still shapes the menu. Joanne Chang’s Flour BLT adds tomato confit and basil aioli, while the Zuni Roll wraps smoked turkey, bacon, dill havarti and chipotle cranberry sauce in a warm tortilla.
There’s a full bar, seasonal outdoor seating and enough beyond sandwiches to accommodate someone who wants a salad or a hot dinner. Beer-battered onion rings come by the bowl, and the tomato bisque arrives with a grilled-cheese crouton. It’s a straightforward choice for a sit-down lunch near the Public Garden, particularly when everyone wants something different but nobody wants another round of restaurant negotiations.
