Kala Thai Cookery
Kala Thai Cookery on Hanover Street gives you a good reason to look beyond your usual noodle order. Start with corn fritters and sweet-spicy peanut sauce, or try the soft rice-flour wraps filled with cucumber, bean sprouts and spicy tofu. Chef Manita Bunnagitkarn opened Kala after her Watertown restaurant, Cha Yen, bringing another of her kitchens to Boston.
The menu has familiar dishes such as pad Thai, pad see ew and green curry, along with char kway teow made with shrimp, pork sausage, egg and chives. Ka pow brings garlic, chilies and basil, while coconut soup takes things in a gentler direction. It’s a useful lunch or dinner stop when you want Thai food near the Greenway and Haymarket.
