Chacarero
Chacarero on Arch Street builds its Chilean sandwiches on bread baked fresh each day. Choose beef, chicken or both, then add the combination that defines the sandwich: Muenster cheese, tomatoes, steamed green beans, avocado spread and hot pepper sauce. The green beans belong there. Founder Juan Hurtado started with a pushcart before opening the downtown shop, where you can now take a seat with your lunch. A vegetarian sandwich is available, with a vegan sandwich and vegan bread offered on Fridays. Empanadas, sweet oven-fried potatoes and desserts give you a few reasons to look past the sandwich section. Flan or rice pudding makes an easy addition to a takeout order.
