Avery Bar is the cocktail lounge at The Ritz-Carlton on Avery Street, a short walk from Boston Common. The drinks list includes a barrel-aged Old Fashioned made with the hotel’s selected Knob Creek bourbon, along with gin, rum, mezcal and tequila cocktails. Shareable plates are available if you want something alongside a drink before or after a show.

This is a hotel lounge with a smart-casual dress code, so it suits an evening when you’re already dressed for dinner or the theater. The bar opens at 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and is closed Sunday and Monday. The hotel offers table reservations; use the Avery Bar booking rather than Artisan Bistro, its separate restaurant in the same building.
