Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, April 3 at 10:00 AM, with presale access available through the theatre’s website. Prices start at $57.33.
TicketsA Broadway hit with record-breaking momentum
Written by Tony winner Cole Escola and directed by Tony winner Sam Pinkleton, Oh, Mary! opened on Broadway on July 11, 2024 at the Lyceum Theatre, where it quickly became a standout success.
The production made history as the first show in the theatre’s 121-year history to gross more than $1 million in a single week. It has since broken its own box office record twelve times and was the first show of the 2024–2025 Broadway season to recoup its investment.
Following its New York run, the play also opened in London’s West End on December 18, 2025.
What the play is about
Oh, Mary! is a dark comedy centered on Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.
The one-act play explores her inner life through a sharply comedic lens, blending themes of frustration, longing, and excess. The story presents a fictionalized, exaggerated version of Mary that leans fully into absurdity and satire.
Boston run includes New Year’s Eve celebration
The Boston engagement will include a special New Year’s Eve post-show party following the 8:30 PM performance on December 31.
Casting for the Boston production has not yet been announced.
A fitting stage for a major premiere
The Emerson Colonial Theatre, which opened in 1900, is the oldest continuously operating theatre in Boston. Over more than a century, it has hosted premieres and pre-Broadway runs of major productions including Anything Goes, Oklahoma!, La Cage aux Folles, and Moulin Rouge! The Musical.
The venue recently celebrated its 125th anniversary in December 2025.
With its mix of Broadway pedigree and sharp, modern comedy, Oh, Mary! is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated theatre events of Boston’s winter season.
