The first-ever professional women’s soccer match in Rhode Island
The Boston Legacy FC Rhode Island match is set to make history on May 22 as the club faces Seattle Reign FC in the first-ever professional women’s soccer match played in Rhode Island.
The match kicks off at 8 p.m. at Centreville Bank Stadium, the new soccer-specific stadium in Pawtucket that will serve as the summer home of Boston Legacy FC.
Located less than an hour from Boston, the stadium has already generated major attention. Organizers say it was named “Best New Stadium” in the country, and every seat is designed to provide close sight lines to the field.
Easy to get to from Boston and beyond
Getting to Centreville Bank Stadium for the Boston Legacy FC Rhode Island match is also expected to be relatively simple for fans traveling from both Boston and Rhode Island.
A commuter rail stop is located directly in downtown Pawtucket, with free shuttle bus loops running straight to the stadium on match day. Organizers are also offering a free parking lot for all fans less than a mile from the stadium.
Season ticket members will have access to free parking located directly next to Centreville Bank Stadium, making arrivals even easier ahead of kickoff.
A massive fanfest before kickoff
The Boston Legacy FC Rhode Island match is shaping up to be more than just a game. Fans arriving early can take part in an expanded fanfest beginning at 6 p.m., with activities running through halftime due to high demand.
The event will include a larger-than-life 50-foot inflatable Boston Legacy FC jersey, a 360-degree merch modeling photo booth, and early access to the team store before kickoff.
Live performances are also planned throughout the night, including a dance and drum performance from Jean Appolon Expressions.
Family activities and interactive experiences
Families and younger soccer fans will have several interactive experiences to explore before the Boston Legacy FC Rhode Island match begins. Organizers are planning a 1×1 soccer skills arena, a sub soccer unit, face painting, hair braiding, and wearable balloon art stations around the concourse.
The night will also feature several major in-game and postgame attractions.
Giveaways, fireworks, and halftime entertainment
The first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive a Boston Legacy FC beach towel giveaway. At halftime, the club will honor hometown hero nominees before a Frisbee dog show attempts a distance record in front of the crowd.
Following the final whistle, fans can stay for what organizers are calling the first fireworks show at Centreville Bank Stadium in 2026. A postgame Haitian DJ set is also scheduled after the match.
A milestone moment for women’s sports in New England
The Boston Legacy FC Rhode Island match also represents another major milestone for women’s sports in the region. Rhode Island has never hosted a professional women’s soccer match before, making the May 22 event a landmark moment for the state and for the club.
Boston Legacy FC will face Seattle Reign FC as part of a growing push to expand professional women’s soccer audiences across New England while creating large-scale fan experiences around marquee matches.
With fireworks, giveaways, performances, and history on the line, the Boston Legacy FC Rhode Island match could become one of the biggest soccer events of the spring in the region.
