Omni Parker House

Omni Parker House has been a hotel at 60 School Street since Harvey D. Parker opened it in October 1855. The building guests use now went up in 1927, on School Street at Tremont. Rooms are upstairs. Parker’s Restaurant, Parker’s Bar, and The Last Hurrah are where you eat and drink.

Boston cream pie came out of the kitchen in 1856. Parker House rolls came from a baker there in the 1860s. The roll recipe stayed in the hotel until 1933, when Franklin Roosevelt asked for them at a White House dinner. Both are still on the menu at Parker’s.

The Last Hurrah is named for Edwin O’Connor’s novel about Mayor James Michael Curley. Old City Hall stands across School Street.
