Bar Mezzana

Last service is January 1, 2027, after which Traveler Street Hospitality is closing the restaurant (Boston Globe). Bar Mezzana serves coastal Italian food on Harrison Avenue in the South End, with crudo and house-made pasta at the center of the menu. Start with raw fish dressed with citrus, herbs and chili, or choose the three-crudo tasting to try several preparations. The pasta selection includes lobster paccheri, orecchiette with sausage and fennel, and agnolotti filled with rabbit and prosciutto. There are smaller plates for sharing, too, from rosemary-and-onion focaccia to broccoli rabe arancini. Wines lean Italian, with a focus on smaller producers, and the bar keeps a substantial amaro selection. Dinner can finish with tiramisu or an affogato, or a flight of bitter Italian liqueurs if dessert is not your thing.
