The Tremont Street side of the Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts.

The BCA Cyclorama

The round brick building on Tremont Street in the South End went up in 1884 for one job: holding Paul Dominique Philippoteaux’s huge circular painting of the Battle of Gettysburg. The painting is no longer shown here, and the Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts is still that round room, with the brick floor, the dome, and a skylight. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

A wedding, a concert, a seated dinner, an art fair, or a performance takes the whole room, and the setup changes for that night. There is a kitchen on site, house lighting, and a 16 by 24 foot stage.
