Toro

Toro has served Barcelona-inspired tapas in the South End since 2005. Chef Ken Oringer’s restaurant is built for ordering across the menu and passing plates around: pan con tomate, salt cod croquettes, garlic shrimp and patatas bravas are all places to start. The grilled corn comes with alioli, lime, Espelette pepper and aged cheese, so expect to need a napkin. Larger appetites can add paella, with both vegetable and seafood-and-meat versions on the dinner menu. Spanish cheeses and cured meats give you something to pick at between hot dishes, while drinks include sangria, cocktails and natural wines. Bring people willing to share, especially if several different dishes have caught your eye.
