The Muddy Charles Pub

The Muddy Charles is open to MIT affiliates and their guests, with everyone required to be 21 or older. Bring a physical U.S. government-issued ID or passport; MIT affiliates also need their MIT ID. Inside Walker Memorial on Memorial Drive, this campus pub has been a gathering place since 1968, with beer and conversation at the center of the visit.

It’s cash-only, and while the pub doesn’t serve food, you can bring your own. Regular hours run on weekdays, with an earlier opening on Friday. Weekend use is reserved for private bookings by MIT affiliates, so don’t treat a Saturday as a normal public opening. Check the pub’s own rules before going, particularly if you’re visiting as someone’s guest rather than as an affiliate.
