Shay’s Pub and Wine Bar

Shay’s has been pouring drinks on JFK Street since 1984, and its patio remains a reason to slow down in Harvard Square. Wine shares the drinks list with beer, cider and spirits, so the name doesn’t commit you to a glass of red. The kitchen covers familiar pub territory with grass-fed beef burgers, hand-cut fries, wings and quesadillas.

There’s plenty for a table with different appetites: a baked brie plate for sharing, a hummus plate, a smothered burrito or a house-made black bean burger. Beyond burgers and vegan cheese are available too. Come for an afternoon drink later in the week, or an evening meal any day. Sunday closes earlier than the rest of the week, at 11 p.m.
