Saloon takes drinks below street level in Somerville’s Davis Square. The underground bar at 255 Elm Street is a good pick for a date or an evening catching up over cocktails, with enough on the food menu to make dinner part of the plan. Order oysters or fried halloumi with chile oil and smoked honey to share, or settle in with a burger or steak frites. The drinks range from bourbon cocktails to a martini made with bread-and-butter pickle brine. There’s also a flight of three miniature martinis if choosing one is the problem. Beer, wine, and spirit-free cocktails give the rest of the table options, too. Reservations are available through Saloon’s website, where you can check the latest menu before heading over.
