One Family Diner’s name has a history behind it. Thomas and Marilyn Edmund bought the Bowdoin Street diner in 1992, and their daughter Rachel and her husband Manuel took over in 2024. Breakfast includes eggs with home fries or grits, banana bread French toast, fried bake with saltfish, and cachupa with pork or chicken and eggs. There are burgers, tuna melts and grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. Come early: this is a morning and early-afternoon diner, rather than an evening stop. It’s still a family operation, with Rachel and Manuel’s children helping at the restaurant on weekends alongside its longtime staff.
