Mooncusser

Moon Bar is the downstairs cocktail and small-plates room at 129 Columbus Avenue, under Mooncusser. Chef Carl Dooley’s team cooks à la carte here, globally inspired and easier than the tasting menu upstairs. The food list is labeled the way they talk: cold stuff, hot stuff, sweet stuff. On the current menu that includes green mango salad with cashews and calamansi, marinated halibut, a Jamaican beef patty, tandoori chicken thighs with cucumber raita, and hake with roasted tomato piri-piri. The bar is worth the stop on its own, with house cocktails and a couple of non-alcoholic drinks. Tuesday through Thursday they run 5 to 10:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday until 11:30. Reservations are available but not required. Validated parking is at the 10 St. James Garage across the street; ask the host to stamp your ticket.
