Laughing Monk Cafe – Allston

Laughing Monk’s Allston restaurant focuses on Isan food from northeastern Thailand. Som tam is pounded to order, larb gets its toasted-rice seasoning, and grilled meats come alongside sticky rice. The menu also includes dishes such as fried pork belly and beef boat noodle soup, giving you several ways to put together a meal beyond the familiar pad Thai order.

This branch has its own identity within the Laughing Monk family. Come here for the Thai and Isan kitchen; the company’s omakase experiences belong to other locations. The Allston dining room is walk-in only, with shared tables and pickup and delivery available. Service pauses between lunch and dinner, and the restaurant closes on Wednesdays.
