Kelly’s Diner

Kelly’s Diner serves breakfast and lunch inside a restored 1953 Jerry O’Mahoney dining car on Broadway in Ball Square. Chrome and booths are part of the actual diner, not a theme added to a new restaurant. The breakfast menu runs from eggs with linguica or corned beef hash to thick challah French toast and four-egg omelettes.

Lunch brings grilled Reubens, burgers, club sandwiches, and plates such as meatloaf with mashed potatoes. There’s also haddock chowder and a blackboard for daily specials. It’s a daytime stop, with posted hours ending at 3 p.m. Sunday service is breakfast only, which matters if you’re heading over for a sandwich. Coffee, ice cream frappes, and homemade desserts round out the menu.
