Galway House

Galway House has been a hangout for “real Bostonians” on Centre Street for more than 50 years. It has been a favorite in Jamaica Plain since 1960, with a pub menu where steak, seafood, and sandwiches can all land on the same table. Fish and chips, sirloin, and a sautéed seafood special are among the choices. The clam chowder and hand-battered onion rings are worth getting before you skip to the main.

There are booths, tables, a bar, and TVs for watching sports. Stay for a beer, wine, or a cocktail, watch the game, and hang with friends. Eat in or take it to go. Fun fact: it used to have a bowling alley on the now non-existent second floor.
