Cheers on Beacon Street is the pub that inspired the television show, originally opened as the Bull & Finch in 1969. The connection is the reason many people come, and the restaurant leans into it with character-named dishes and souvenirs. You can stop for a beer or make it lunch with burgers, clam chowder, wings and other pub food.

The menu’s Giant Norm Burger stacks two beef burgers with cheese, mushrooms and onion rings, which should settle the question of whether you need a starter. Cheers takes walk-ins rather than reservations, and children are welcome before its evening switch to a 21-and-over policy. It is across from the Public Garden, making the familiar sign an easy stop during a walk around Beacon Hill.
