Carrie Nation Cocktail Club

Carrie Nation Cocktail Club at 11 Beacon Street has a restaurant up front and a speakeasy-style lounge tucked behind it. Walk past the bar and along the corridor to the red velvet curtain: beyond it are leather seats, dark wood, billiards, and another full bar. It gives a night out a few possibilities, from dinner near the State House to cocktails and a game of pool with friends. The name is a joke at the expense of the bar’s namesake, the anti-alcohol crusader Carrie Nation. She would not have approved. The venue also hosts Drag Me to Brunch and offers private event spaces. If you’re coming specifically for the back lounge, check ahead, since the speakeasy can be booked for private or semi-private gatherings.
