Bar Volpe

Bar Volpe is chef Karen Akunowicz’s Southern Italian restaurant and pasta shop on West Broadway in South Boston. Handmade pasta is the reason to start looking at the menu, from malloreddus with spicy sausage ragù to culurgiones filled with potato and goat cheese. There is wood-fired cooking, too, alongside snacks such as farro arancini and fried olives stuffed with ’nduja and mortadella. Dinner can run from a few small plates to Sardinian-style paella made with fregola and shellfish for the table. Italian cocktails and an extensive amaro selection cover the drinks. If you want another meal for later, the shop sells fresh pasta, sauces and ricotta to take home.
