Logan Airport to roll out real-time TSA wait times for travelers this spring
Boston travelers may soon spend less time guessing and more time moving through security.

Logan Airport is preparing to launch a new system that will show real-time TSA wait times, giving passengers a clearer picture of how long it will take to get through security before they even step in line.
The system is expected to roll out in mid-April 2026, according to airport officials.
It uses camera-based analytics to monitor the length of security lines and estimate how quickly they are moving. That data will then be shared with travelers through Logan’s website, mobile tools, and screens inside the airport.
For anyone who has stood in a long, slow-moving TSA line with no idea how bad it is ahead, this is a meaningful shift.
Security wait times at Logan can vary widely depending on the time of day, season, and terminal. During peak travel periods, lines can stretch far beyond the checkpoint, leaving passengers rushing to make flights.
This new system is designed to remove some of that uncertainty.
Instead of guessing when to arrive, travelers will be able to check wait times in advance and plan accordingly. It also gives airport staff better visibility into congestion, allowing them to adjust staffing and keep lines moving more efficiently.
The rollout comes as Logan continues to see heavy passenger traffic, especially on popular domestic routes and short-haul flights along the East Coast.
For Boston travelers, the change is simple but significant.
A clearer view of security lines could mean fewer missed flights, less stress, and a smoother start to the travel experience.
As the mid-April launch approaches, travelers can expect more details on where to check wait times and how the system will be integrated into existing airport tools.
