About this event
Film Screening and Conversation with Liza Donnelly and Amy Hwang
Join MassArt for a special screening of Women Laughing, a documentary celebrating the women cartoonists who have helped shape The New Yorker—their humor, creative process, history, and influence.
Women Laughing is a documentary about the women cartoonists of The New Yorker, exploring how their humor, perspectives, and creative voices have helped shape the magazine across generations. Featuring cartoonists including Roz Chast, Liza Donnelly, Amy Hwang, and others, the film looks at the history of women in cartooning, the creative process behind their work, and the ways they have expanded who gets to tell jokes—and whose experiences become part of the cultural conversation.
Following the film, filmmaker and longtime New Yorker cartoonist Liza Donnelly and cartoonist Amy Hwang will join MassArt Illustration Chair Lisa Kennedy for a conversation moderated by MassArt President Mary Grant.
