Turning Holiday Ornaments

North Bennet Street School offers a weekend class in turning holiday ornaments, taught by Rick Angus. Both days run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The class starts with spindle-turning exercises, then moves from simple ornaments, including a snowman and an icicle, to hollow orbs with finials and inside-out, twice-turned pieces. Bring a sketchbook and something to draw with. The school provides the other tools and supplies. Intermediate spindle experience is recommended. Students must be 18 or older. Wear closed-toe shoes and long pants, skip loose clothing and jewelry, and tie long hair back. The course is $375.
