Revolutionary Snake Ensemble brings its annual Mardi Gras Party back to Scullers

The Revolutionary Snake Ensemble’s annual upbeat Mardi Gras Party joined by New Orleans native Henri Smith and other special you’re-in-for-a-surprise guests.
At Scullers, RSE will once again celebrate this time of year, with a toast to Mardi Gras vitality soon to be followed by Spring’s renewal. They will again be joined by New Orleans icon & vocalist Henri Smith, who always exudes that special Mardi Gras party feel! This year also promises to be an even more expansive jazz throw-down, which, as RSE’s leader Ken Field has described, will include “an over-the-top slate of truly amazing special surprise guests — trust me, you want to be there for this one!”
RSE’s outstanding krewe members are Ken Field (RSE leader, alto sax & flute), Tom Hall (tenor sax), Dave Harris (trombone & tuba), Blake Newman (bass), Phil Neighbors (drums), and Jerry Sabatini (trumpet). RSE’s 5th album “Serpentine”, released this past year, focuses on Ken Field’s original compositions, along with arrangements of diverse works from Frank Zappa to the Appalachian traditional song “The Water is Wide.” Downbeat says it’s “such an invigorating blast,” and United Mutations calls it “impressive…beautiful.” According to Provincetown Magazine, the album is “Splendid…spontaneous, improvisational, rigged with the band’s energy and prosody … a solid blast of brass in a mercury-wild package. This is music for listening, moving your ass. It’s music for being alive.”
