Boston Gay Men’s Chorus is closing out Pride Month with a powerful new concert called RISE

A high-energy, emotional tribute to LGBTQ+ identity, protest, and celebration is taking over Boston this June

If you’re looking for a Pride event that actually means something, this is it.

The Boston Gay Men’s Chorus is ending its season with RISE, a major concert built around protest, pride, and the power of being seen. It is designed to hit both ends of the spectrum. Pure joy and real history.

This is not just a feel-good night. It is a full-scale musical statement.

A Pride concert that moves from Stonewall to the dance floor

RISE is structured as a journey.

It opens loud and celebratory with songs like Raise Your Glass and Get On Your Feet, pulling the audience straight into the energy of Pride.

Then it shifts.

The program moves into deeper, more reflective territory with pieces like Something Inside So Strong and selections from Quiet No More. These moments ground the performance in the real stories behind LGBTQ+ progress.

From there, it builds again.

Songs like Smalltown Boy and The Times They Are A-Changin’ bring themes of identity, change, and personal truth to the surface. Everything is delivered through BGMC’s layered choral sound, which hits differently than hearing these tracks on their own.

The second half turns into a full Pride celebration

The back half of the show leans all the way into celebration.

You get iconic tracks like Vogue, alongside newer choral works that push the message forward.

Then comes the finale.

The Pride Suite pulls together songs that defined generations, including:

  • I’m Coming Out
  • You Make Me Feel
  • We Are Family
  • True Colors
  • Beautiful
  • A Freedom Medley featuring artists like George Michael, Queen, and Lady Gaga

It is designed to feel collective. Big. Emotional. Loud in the best way.

Why this show stands out

This is where RISE separates itself from typical Pride programming.

It is not just a playlist of hits. It is built with intention.

The show connects:

  • The history of protest
  • The reality of lived experience
  • The joy of visibility

That combination is what makes it land. You are not just watching a performance. You are part of it.

The bottom line

RISE is built to do three things at once.

Make you feel something.
Remind you what it took to get here.
And send you out louder than you came in.

This is your Pride concert.
