L.A. Burdick

L.A. Burdick’s Back Bay café is a lovely excuse to stop for hot chocolate and leave with a box of chocolate mice. The drinking chocolate comes in dark, milk, white and spicy dark, all available hot or iced, so summer doesn’t rule out a chocolate stop. Order different cups with a friend if you’d like to compare.

You can have a single chocolate penguin or pavé glacé with your drink, though the pastry case makes a longer visit tempting. There’s chocolate mousse cake, Earl Grey mousse cake and passionfruit mousse cake, alongside Linzer torte and Engadiner nusstorte. Devoción coffee and Mariage Frères tea give you something less chocolate-heavy to pair with dessert.
