Soup Shack Porter puts Japanese ramen, Vietnamese pho and Thai noodle soups on the same menu. At its White Street location, you can order tonkotsu or spicy miso ramen, a bowl of beef pho, or Thai duck noodles without taking the group to three different restaurants. Tantan ramen and tom yum offer more choices when you’re in the mood for a bowl with some heat.

Rice dishes include chicken or tofu katsu curry and roast duck over rice. Curry puffs and gyoza make useful additions if you’re sharing a few starters before the soups arrive. This is the Porter Square branch, so select that location when ordering online. It serves lunch and dinner, with takeout available for evenings when the couch wins.
