Whispers from the Veil

Whispers from the Veil is an evening of Jazz Age spiritualism at the William Hickling Prescott House on Beacon Hill. In the 1920s, Boston society followed the table-tipping and bell ringing of Mina Crandon, known as the Witch of Lime Street. The program looks at how grief, mystery, and scientific inquiry met in New England drawing rooms.

Laura Rocklyn portrays Mina Crandon in a recreation of a 1920s seance, with dim lights, rappings, and other manifestations, then takes questions in character. A pop-up show of 19th-century mourning clothes and accessories from the museum collection is on view. Three seatings start at 5:30, 6:30, and 7:30 pm. Tickets are $35.
