Open Newbury Street

Sunday, August 15th, 22nd, and 29th from 10am to 8pm

Mayor Kim Janey has announced that Newbury Street will be turned into a pedestrian-only street for three Sundays this August. On August 15th, 22nd, and 29th, you can enjoy the emblematic Boston street as a pedestrian without the worry of traffic!

Open Newbury Street will occur from 10am to 8pm and it will provide new opportunities for businesses to have their consumers engage on repurposed street space and also provide pedestrian the freedom to enjoy the full width of this iconic and famous street. Mayor Janey has stated that she is “excited to kick-off Open Newbury Street as we look for ways to hold space for collective joy and imagination.” Small businesses will be able to bring their brands out onto the street in open air so that everyone can enjoy their products without the worry of limited capacity and COVID.

Take into consideration that Newbury Street will be closed from Berkeley Street to Massachusetts Avenue for motor vehicles in case you are planning on taking that route. Parking will be also restricted but signs will be posted in order to inform drivers of any type of changes.
