ONE FALL ๐ŸŽค Delivers the Riffs with "Spine First!" EP

For a band named after a wrestling match, ONE FALL proves they're not just another contender in the rock ring โ€“ they're the undisputed champs.

Having emerged from Salem's music scene a little over a year ago, this melodic punk and hardcore quartet have been gathering momentum like a freight train, earning respect and adulation in equal measure. Their early track record speaks for itself, with a trailblazing array of songs and a formidable presence in live performances. It's no wonder they clinched the title at the 2023 Rock And Roll Rumble and got immediate nods in this year's Boston and New England Music Awards' punk categories.

But today, the world gets a raw, unfiltered taste of ONE FALL as they release their second EP, Spine First!. This fiery collection, immaculately crafted at New Alliance Audio under the meticulous ears of Kyle Paradis, showcases the very essence of ONE FALL. Whether itโ€™s the punk energy or the searing riffs that Phill Hunt, Darren Lourie, Helen McWilliams, and Caleb Wheeler serve, one thing's for sure: they're here to set the world ablaze.

โ€œThe first EP we put out was three songs recorded in the basement. We never expected the whirlwind of a year after releasing just those three songs. We hope people find tracks on this EP that resonate with themโ€
— The Band

Spine First! is more than just an EP โ€“ it's a declaration. Tracks like "Rage/Quit" and "Surrounder" aptly demonstrate ONE FALL's unique blend of metal, street punk, and skate punk energies. The Springsteen cover, "Born To Run," seals the deal, reminding everyone of McWilliams' New Jersey roots and the band's versatility.

However, itโ€™s not just about the music. The lyrics stand tall, with McWilliams providing a deep dive into society's dark corners, addressing issues like misogyny and capitalism's influence on patriarchy and rape culture.

โ€œAn underlying lyrical theme throughout the EP is about devoting yourself to the people and passions that matter to you, amid the frustrations of a capitalist culture.โ€
— The Band

Amid all the chaos, the camaraderie within ONE FALL is evident. From Hunt's riffs to Wheeler's rhythmic prowess, the band exudes mutual admiration.

โ€œWeโ€™re big fans of each otherโ€™s playing. Weโ€™re writing music we want to listen to, and thereโ€™s friendship and sincere feeling baked into these songs.

As they embark on their new journey post the EP release, playing at various events like The Fest in Gainesville, the trajectory for ONE FALL seems promising. While theyโ€™re excited about the accolades, at the end of the day, Spine First! is a testament to their sheer passion for the craft.

They sum it up best,

โ€œWe genuinely love what weโ€™re doing. People should also know that weโ€™re quite fond of professional wrestlingโ€
