Mosesian Arts to Reopen - Remodeled Venue for Events and Exhibitions
We’re excited to hear Watertown’s Mosesian Arts to reopen in a now-busy consumer area!
“ITS BEEN A YEAR AND A HALF OF UPENDING CHANGE FOR ALL ARTS AND ORGANIZATIONS AND SO MANY OTHERS. AND MCA HAS EMBRACED THE OPORTUNITY FOR MORE CHANGE. WE’VE BEEN REIMAGINING THE LOOK AND FUNCTONALITY OF OUR BUILDING ITSELF, AND WERE EXCITED TO FINALLY WELCOME VISITORS BACK.”
After nearly twenty months The Mosesian Center for the Arts will reopen its doors for events and exhibitions on Friday, November 12th. Akin to the rest of the world The MCA was forced to closed when covid hit in 2020. The arts centre took advantage of the shutdown and began to redesign several spaces. Beginning with a feasibility study in summer of 2020 and work with architects and designers at Sasaki, who produced floor plans and designs for a major renovation of the entrance, lobby and other public and administrative areas.
In addition to increasing useable square footage, building security, public health and visitor experience, the new lobby design connects modern artistic vision with the buildings industrial past as a military manufacturing shop. “The design team and i wanted to acknowledge the buildings history, which we’ve done with gunmetal finishes, reclaimed wood and industrial ceilings and floors’, said Farmington. ‘The new space is also very modern, with a sleek and minimalist design that will allow visitors to focus their attention on the art gallery walls.”
Here are events to look forward to at Mosesian Arts:
November 12,13 &14 - Watertown Children’s Theatre production of Mamma Mia
November 18 - Multiverse Concert Series showcasing their latest album Octave of Light
