Kelly’s Roast Beef 🥩 From Beachside Classic To Celeb Favorite
OG Kelly's Roast Beef opened on Revere Beach in 1951 by founders Frank McCarthy and Raymond Carey. Neither partner wanted the restaurant named after themselves, so they to name it after their great friend Thomas Kelley who was a florist from Dorchester.
The became massively popular and is still considered a classic must-go spot in Mass. Over the years, Kelly's has expanded and now has multiple locations across Massachusetts including Danvers, Saugus, Natick, Medford, and other cities.
THE MENU
Of course, Kelly's is more than just roast beef. People love the lobster rolls, clam chowder, fish and chips, chicken sandwiches, burgers, and salads - really everything you’re looking for on a boardwalk.
But, the roast beef is most definitely the main draw. Slow-roasted, tender beef slices, served on a fresh roll, and topped with a choice of options like cheese, onions, mushrooms, and peppers, has made it a local legend.
CLAIM TO FAME
Kelly’s claims and maintains that they invented the “roast beef sandwich” which sounds kind of funny 🤣. Like, I could say I invented humming when I type… but hey, no one disputes it…
STAR POWER
Kelly's Roast Beef has been featured in Hollywood movies like "The Fighter" and has many celeb fans like Tom Brady, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Steven Tyler. 🤩
