Joe Bonamassa Interview Before August 13th Leader Bank Pavilion Concert

We grabbed a few minutes with guitar legend Joe Bonamassa before he comes to Leader Bank Pavilion next weekend to promote his latest Time Clocks on Saturday, August 13th!  We find out why the blues survives long after quarantine is over and bands are back on the road. See you there?

What makes American Blues such an important genre in 2022?

Blues is the root of all music and it has always been important. Artists must play the blues with feeling and emotion and it provides an outlet for people to express their thoughts. With everything going on in the world right now, music is more relevant than ever.

Congratulations on your recent third Grammy nomination. When you started playing, did you ever expect that?

No, when you start out, you never expect awards or accolades. It is a very cool thing when your peers nominate you as one of the best out there at that moment. I usually keep my focus more on the fans and what they think of my music as they are the ones who allow me to do this for a living.

What is your favorite track to play live from Time Clocks?

โ€˜Questions and Answersโ€™ is going to be a cool track to play live. I like the yin and yang aspect of it, the hard question being asked and then the way it is answered... It has a good flow and it will be a fun song to play live!

What's the best part about being on the road after quarantine?

I love playing live. I thrive on a live audience and having people in the room reacting to what we are playing on stage. During quarantine, I realized that I am a live performer and entertainer most of all and canโ€™t live without that.
