Former New England Patriots tight end Robert Gronkowski made a quick stop this weekend to deliver some exciting news to the residents of Boston. On behalf of his foundation, Gronk Nation Youth Foundation, Rob announced he will be donating $1.2 million to rebuild the Charlesbank playground located along the Charles River Esplanade. The money donated will help update the current playground’s climbing structures, slides, and swings with the first 10 years of maintenance included.

“The concept of this playground will be to motivate kids to be outdoors, get fit and have fun”, says Gronk, who played with the Patriots for 9 seasons before coming out of retirement to play with Tom Brady in Tampa Bay. This won’t be the last time Gronkowski steps foot in Massachusetts as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers look to take on the New England Patriots in Foxborough this season.
