SUMMARY:Stanley Jordan Trio headlines this year's 15th annual Arlington Jazz Festival.
DESCRIPTION:Stanley Jordan Trio headlines this year’s 15th annual Arlington Jazz Festival\, that runs from April 8-12\, 2026.\nMark your calendars for the 15th annual Arlington Jazz Festival\, running from April 8-12\, with the grand finale concert\, featuring the Stanley Jordan Trio. The Trio includes master guitarist Stanley Jordan accompanied by Wes Wirth (bass) and Kenwood Dennard (drums). \nIn a career that took flight in 1985 with commercial and critical acclaim\, guitar virtuoso Stanley Jordan has consistently displayed a chameleonic musical persona of openness\, imagination\, versatility and maverick daring. Be it bold reinventions of classical masterpieces or soulful explorations through pop-rock hits\, to blazing straight ahead jazz forays and ultramodern improvisational works-solo or with a group\, Jordan can always be counted on to take listeners on breathless journeys into the unexpected. \nJordan is the master of a special technique on the guitar’s fretboard. Instead of conventional strumming and picking\, Jordan’s innovative “touch technique” is an advanced form of two-handed tapping. While a handful of other players use similar techniques\, Jordan’s fluid\, multi-layered textures and sheer virtuosity has raised the bar for excellence. However his technique\, though impressive\, is always a means to a musical end. His music is imbued with a warmth and sensitivity that has captured the imagination of listeners worldwide. More on his personal approach to the technique can be found at https://www.stanleyjordan.com/Technique/starting.html#. \nVisit stanleyjordan.com/ for further background\, including Jordan’s explorations into Music Therapy and his Integral Arts Academy. His bass player Wes Wirth posted his gratitude to “guitar master Stanley Jordan\, for having me as a member of his trio\, and for sharing his integrated arts approach to guitar virtuosity\, extraordinary musicianship\, incredibly inventive study of harmony\, music theory\, physics\, astronomy\, coding\, and so much more … and demonstrating/living the dynamic connections between music and other realms.” \nLeading up to this year’s Arlington Jazz Festival‘s headliner concert\, Dan Fox\, founder and chief coordinator of the annual jazz festival\, is putting the finishing touches to the entire festival schedule. All the concerts leading up to April 12th will champion the vibrant local jazz scene that already flourishes in this area. As the Festival’s custom\, an abundance of local talent will be on full display this year\, performing in several different venues around the town from April 8-12. \nFinal details for the entire festival will be available by late March.

SUMMARY:Lucinda Williams and Her Band
DESCRIPTION:“My dad\, as a poet\, always told me to never censor myself – that’s one of his cardinal rules of creative writing\,” says multiple-Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams. “That became my motto which I’ve stuck by all these years.” Miller Williams’ advice clearly is born out on Lucinda’s powerful eighteenth studio album\, the provocative World’s Gone Wrong. “I felt a sense of urgency in making this record\,” she adds. \nFilled with gut-wrenching topical songs\, the album’s ten tracks were written and recorded in a blast of collaborative creativity as Lucinda and her cowriters – primarily husband/manager/co-producer Tom Overby and guitarist Doug Pettibone – grappled with events transpiring during the spring of 2025. A whole other album had been in the works\, but that “urgency” to address our current cataclysmic situation motivated Lucinda and company to cut World’s Gone Wrong in direct response. “Music is a powerful weapon\,” she points out. “I want this record to make people aware\, wake them up. I like to push people’s buttons.”

SUMMARY:Indigo Girls
DESCRIPTION:Released in 1989\, Indigo Girls’ eponymous major label debut sold over two million copies under the power of singles “Closer to Fine” and “Kid Fears” and turned Indigo Girls into one of the most successful folk duos in history. Over a thirty-five-year career that began in clubs around their native Atlanta\, Georgia\, the Grammy-winning duo of Emily Saliers and Amy Ray has recorded sixteen studio albums (seven gold\, four platinum\, one double platinum)\, sold over 15 million records\, and built a dedicated\, enduring following. \n“We joke about being old\, but what is old when it comes to music? We’re still a bar band at heart\,” says Saliers. “We are so inspired by younger artists and while our lyrics and writing approach may change\, our passion for music feels the same as it did when we were 25-years-old.” \nOn their 16th studio album\, Indigo Girls tell their origin story. Look Long is a stirring and eclectic collection of songs that finds the duo reunited in the studio with their strongest backing band to date as they chronicle their personal upbringings with more specificity and focus than they have on any previous song-cycle. “We’re fallible creatures shaped by the physics of life\,” says Saliers. “We’re shaped by our past; what makes us who we are? And why?” \nProduced by John Reynolds (Sinéad O’Connor\, Damien Dempsey) and recorded in the countryside outside Bath\, England at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios\, these eleven songs have a tender\, revealing motion to them\, as if they’re feeding into a Super 8 film projector\, illuminating a darkened living room. “When We Were Writers” recounts the flying sparks and passion Saliers felt as a young college student when the duo first started performing together. “Shit Kickin’” is a nuanced love letter to Ray’s Southern heritage. “I’m a little bit left of the ‘salt of the earth’ / That’s alright\, I’ll prove my worth\,” she sings. \nAmidst our often-terrifying present\, Look Long is a musical balm for those of us in search of a daily refuge\, an hour or two when we can engage with something that brings us joy\, perspective\, or maybe just calm. \n“People feel lost in these political times\,” explains Saliers. “Let’s lament our limitations\, but let’s also look beyond what’s right in front of us\, take the long view of things\, and strive to do better. As time has gone on\, our audience has become more expansive and diverse which gives me a great sense of joy.” Crowd singalongs that often overpower the band itself are a trademark of Indigo Girls concerts. The duo has returned to the road and amphitheaters across the country are once again filling with the sound of those collective voices raised in song. The phenomenon epitomizes the sense of community and celebration that defines Indigo Girls’ music. As one bar band once put it\, “We go to the doctor\, we go to the mountains…we go to the Bible\, we go through the work out.” For millions\, they go to the Indigo Girls. On Look Long they’ll find a creative partnership certain of its bearings\, forging a way forward.

SUMMARY:Celtic Thunder
DESCRIPTION:Seeing Irish musical phenomenon Celtic Thunder in person offers more than you might expect from a typical concert. The settings and showmanship are akin to a Broadway theatrical production\, with a wealth of musical talent at the center of it. The five singers who make up Celtic Thunder are all enormously gifted vocalists\, and their blend of Irish folk flavors with pop is a carefully concocted brew. But you get something extra when you see them live in concert. The elaborate stage visuals that accompany Celtic Thunder’s performances are an essential part of the proceedings\, leading the group to capture many past productions on CD and DVD. The combination of musicality and theatricality has made the group an international sensation since their start in the late 2000s. Every tour is a unique production unto itself: from 2008’s The Show to 2012’s Voyage\, 2013’s Mythology\, and now their 2018 tour\, X. Celtic Thunder Background The foresight of producer Sharon Browne first brought Celtic Thunder together. Browne’s vision combines the talents of five young\, world-class Irish vocalists for a project that is as much about live performance as recordings\, and creating a sound that keeps traditional Irish music at its core\, while opening itself up to other influences—including contemporary pop/rock\, spirituals\, and holiday music. Ryan Kelly\, Damian McGinty\, Paul Byron\, George Donaldson\, and Keith Harkin made up the original quintet that formed in Ireland in 2007. On early albums like ‘Celtic Thunder: The Show’ and ‘Celtic Thunder: Act Two\,’ they established an approach that appealed to a broad cross section of music fans\, and they performed concerts that brought elaborate visuals and bold theatricality into the mix. Today only Kelly and McGinty remain from the original lineup\, but Celtic Thunder continues to be an international sensation\, and the group’s peerless vocals and unbridled showmanship remain on point.

SUMMARY:Cabaret Voltaire
DESCRIPTION:Originally active between 1973-1994\, Cabaret Voltaire featured Chris Watson until 1981 and Stephen Mallinder until 1994. The group were inactive for 20 years until – with Richard H Kirk as the sole remaining member – the 2014 performance at Berlin’s Atonal festival. An interconnected series of releases – Shadow of Fear\, BN9Drone and Dekadrone – followed in 2020 and 2021 before Kirk’s untimely passing in autumn 2021. Mallinder and Watson have stated that there will be no new recordings under the name Cabaret Voltaire. \nIn the current climate of social turmoil and political manipulation\, the prescient work of Cabaret Voltaire continues to be necessary. The sounds\, words\, images and films of the band still resonate loudly\, continuing to challenge the status quo. \nThe events in 2025 and 2026 will curate this essential work and to acknowledge the timeless energy and to mark the continuing significance and power of what Cabaret Voltaire achieved. Original members Chris Watson and Stephen Mallinder are committed to stay true to the enduring vision of Cabaret Voltaire. \nThe performance will cover the arc of their formidable output – from early experiments\, and the first Rough Trade / Factory releases\, through the band’s Doublevision video label and into the work with renowned producers such as Adrian Sherwood and Marshall Jefferson. Stephen Mallinder explains\, “The live set is built from scratch but faithful to the original tracks. Everything has been painstakingly reconstructed with the original technology and processes to build the tracks. But as with all Cabs live shows there is an element of unpredictable\, the new. Chance meets causality.

SUMMARY:Air Supply – A Matter of Time Tour
DESCRIPTION:Continuing to make musical history with every sold out performance around the world\, legendary pop duo Air Supply is riding the wave of an eventful banner year in 2026\, with concerts across North America\, Australia\, South America\, Europe and Asia\, a biopic in the works\, an impending Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and – brace yourselves\, devoted Airheads – A Matter of Time\, their first studio album in 15 years. \nGraham Russell’s heartfelt and soul-piercing songwriting talents\, along with his and Russell Hitchcock’s dynamic trademark vocals\, are on emphatic display throughout the multi-faceted 11-track collection\, due to drop digitally December 3\, with the same release date for an exclusive special edition 80’s style vinyl version. \nReleased to coincide with Air Supply’s incredible 50th anniversary as a duo\, A Matter of Time caps an historic career that compares to the Beatlesque feat of five consecutive Top Five Singles (“Lost in Love\,” “All Out of Love\,” “Every Woman in the World\,” “The One That You Love\,” “Here I Am”). During their early 80’s run\, they sold a collective total of 20 million copies of their first three albums (Lost in Love\, The One That You Love\, Now & Forever) and the 1983 Greatest Hits collection and achieved multi-million radio plays for five of their hits\, including “Sweet Dreams” and the Jim Steinman-penned “Making Love Out of Nothing At All.” In 2010\, the year Air Supply released their last studio album Mumbo Jumbo\, Graham was honored with a BMI Million-Air Certificate recognizing three million performances of “All Out of Love.” \n“When it comes to our longevity\, it’s sometimes hard to think about it\, but Russell and I do often\, usually while we’re traveling between cities\,” says Graham. “You can never imagine being in a band or being an artist for that long\, so it’s not easy to wrap your thoughts around it. When we started having some success\, we thought we’d be around for a few years. Then as the years roll by\, all of a sudden we’re at a half century since we met and people still enjoy hearing our songs and seeing us perform them. \n“If I could pinpoint the reason\,” he adds\, “it’s because our music has never really been in style but it also never goes out of style. We’ve never followed any trends or been fashionable\, but heartfelt love songs always seem to endure. And beyond simply making great records\, we love hearing from fans around the world\, particularly after our shows\, saying things like\, ‘God you have no idea what this song means to me or how it saved me from this or that.’ Having been a songwriter for over 64 years now\, it’s particularly gratifying to hear that those songs I’ve written still resonate like that.” \nThe release of the album comes seven months after Graham and Russell celebrated a half century since meeting as chorus members of the Australian touring company of Jesus Christ Superstar in a most extraordinary way – headlining a sold-out show at Carnegie Hall on their actual 50th anniversary date.

SUMMARY:Chris Botti
DESCRIPTION:GRAMMY-winning trumpeter Chris Botti has been one of the most popular instrumentalists in the world for nearly three decades; he’s collaborated with some of the biggest superstars on the planet\, including Sting\, Paul Simon\, Barbra Streisand\, Lady Gaga\, Tony Bennett\, Frank Sinatra\, Aretha Franklin\, Bette Midler\, Joni Mitchell\, Steven Tyler\, Andrea Bocelli\, Herbie Hancock\, Yo-Yo Ma\, and others; he’s topped the jazz charts with numerous albums\, earned multiple Gold and Platinum records\, performed with symphony orchestras and on prestigious stages from Carnegie Hall to the Hollywood Bowl to the Sydney Opera House. \nIn short\, Chris Botti really needs no introduction. Yet with his Blue Note Records debut\, he’s offering one anyway. Vol.1 is in many ways a fresh start for the trumpeter. Having successfully crossed over from jazz renown to pop stardom\, Botti’s first album in more than a decade finds him crossing back\, with a small group project focused on acoustic jazz and classic standards. \n“I turned 60 in 2022\, at a time that seemed like a restart for so many things in the world\,” Botti says. “I wanted to strip away all the orchestral arrangements and special guests and focus more on my playing\, the playing of my band\, and these jazz classics that we always love playing on stage.” \nWhile Botti could boast of the major names with whom he’s shared stages\, this project allows him to share his enthusiasm for the jazz greats past and present that excite him – his conversation is peppered with references to everyone from Miles Davis to Keith Jarrett to Pat Metheny to Brad Mehldau. He points to landmark albums like Davis’ Kind of Blue\, John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman\, or Metheny’s duo outing with Charlie Haden\, Beyond the Missouri Sky as models for the kind of “lifestyle” music he set out to make – music that is exquisite on its own but can also set the scene for a coffee shop or hotel lounge\, instantly generating a sophisticated mood.
