Rose City Band is celebrated guitarist Ripley Johnson, who has created some of the decade’s “most mesmeric and beguiling albums.” A prolific songwriter, Johnson started Rose City Band as an outlet nimble enough to match the pace of his writing as well as to explore songwriting styles apart from his bands Wooden Shjips and Moon Duo. See him perform with Rosali on Nov. 14th.
Abhi The Nomad

Born in India, rapper and singer Abhi The Nomad has lived in Beijing, Hong Kong, the Fiji Islands, California, France and Texas. A sense of dislocation and alienation permeates his music, which moves between hip-hop and bluesy pop with serious emotional depths.
Will Sheff / Okkervil River

After nine critically acclaimed albums, after twenty bandmates, after countless bars and clubs and theaters and festivals, after two full decades, Will Sheff is letting Okkervil River drift out to sea with Nothing Special, a rich and cinematic collection that marks the acclaimed indie songwriter’s first release under his own name. Sheff just kicked off his North American tour, which stops in Somerville later this month.

Session Americana is musicians’ musicians: a cast of top-shelf players, singers, and writers who tour internationally, taking their own songs, plus hundreds more from the American songbook, on the road. Be a part of the intimate, raucous scene these players built years ago at Toad, the neighborhood bar where it all began in Cambridge. The Crystal Ballroom is honored to host them, with special guest Kris Delmhorst in the band and The Lyle Brewer Trio opening the night.
