Secret Boston’s Guide to “Leaf Peeping” in Boston

Leaf peeping is an informal and some have even said slightly ‘creepy’ term for traveling to admire and photograph the gorgeous fall foliage in certain areas that are well known for their color change. This is an activity that anyone and everyone can enjoy, wether you combine it with your Sunday stroll or you travel the country too snap some photographs, or you use it as an excuse to go apple picking, it really is one of nature’s finest achievements.

Although October and November are prime foliage viewing time, it is also based on a variety of natural factors such as light level, temperature, moisture, soil conditions and insects. These can all have a huge impact on the duration of the season. Meaning all seasons are different so it’s important you keep up to date with the forecasts. Paul Pastelok is an expert in the field and gives great insight into peak foliage times in an article on The Providence Journal website. They also provide a link to a  fall foliage tracker for the more dedicated leaf peepers.
