Artists Talk Duke Riley at Praise Shadows Art Gallery
Do you love art? Do you love exploring the many emotions and ideas that art has to offer? You should check out the Artists Talk at the Praise Shadows Art Gallery this Thursday, February 4th from 7-8 pm.
The artist being featured is Duke Riley, an extremely talented artist that has his BFA in painting from Rhode Island School of Design and MFA in sculpture from the Pratt Institute. The talk’s main focus is celebrating and introducing Riley’s latest solo project: Lovers, Muggers, and Thieves.
To give a little more description to Duke Riley’s art, the Praise Shadows Art Gallery describes his work as that it, “explores his lifelong fascination with urban waterways, their historical relationship to the transgressive culture of life at sea, and the uneasy intersections of human geography with the physical world. His signature style interweaves historical and contemporary events with elements of fiction and myth to create allegorical histories. His re-imagined narratives comment on a range of issues from the cultural impact of over-development and environmental destruction of waterfront communities to contradictions within political ideologies and the role of the artist in society.”
This Artists Talk will be held Thursday, February 4th from 7:00-8:00 pm.
The event is free to the public on zoom and only requires registering in advance.
The event will be curated by Jen Mergel.
