A Guide to the City's Dope Graffiti and Murals 🎨 Getting Down and Dirty with Boston's Street Art

Boston is a canvas for the creative and the bold. From Central Square to Dorchester, street art abounds. Back in 2010, Banksy made a big splash here with his piece, called "FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS.” It was painted on a building in Chinatown and drew huge crowds of fans before it was taken down (I mean, really, whyyyyy???)

Here’s my list of spots to find great street art in the city:

  1. CENTRAL SQUARE
This spot is brimming with badass street art. Look out for bold murals by Silvia López Chavez and Marka27, and intricate graffiti tags by Upendo Taylor.

  2. THE ROSE KENNEDY GREENWAY
Here is home to some stunning street art, including massive murals by Shara Hughes and Lawrence Weiner, and colorful installations by Matthew Hoffman.

  3. ALLSTON
A neighborhood all about music and college culture, but it’s also a treasure trove of street art. Check out the massive murals by Dan Angeli (aka "Dang") and ProBlak, or the playful graffiti tags by Caleb Neelon.

  4. FORT POINT
Wander down the streets and alleys of Fort Point, and you'll see everything from massive murals by Cey Adams and Rob Gibbs to intricate graffiti tags by Sophia Ainslie.

  5. THE SOUTH END
Charming brownstones, trendy restaurants, and seriously impressive street art. From the massive murals by Cey Adams and Os Gemeos to the colorful tags by Tristan Eaton, the South End is a mecca for street art lovers.

  6. JP
The best neighborhood in Boston (kidding, I’m from here lol). This diverse neighborhood is home to some epic street art. Check out the colorful murals by Kate True and Liz LaManche, or the intricate tags by Problak.

  7. DORCHESTER
A neighborhood packed with sick street art. You gotta check out the bold and colorful murals by Percy Fortini-Wright and Alex Cook (aka "The Mural Guy"), and the intricate tags by Cedric "Vise1" Douglas. Seriously, don't sleep on this.

So there you have it, Boston's street art scene is alive. Whether you're from here or just passing through, take some time to explore the city's murals and graffiti. Who knows what you might discover?
