A Guide to Boston’s Most Iconic Foods

Boston, one of the oldest cities of the United States, has a very good reputation when it comes to food history. For both tourists and locals, the tastes of New England are definitely unique. We have put together a list of Boston’s most iconic dishes and where you can find them!

1. Boston Creme Pie: the traditional dessert was born at Omni Parker House and it consists of a light sponge cake filled with creme and topped with chocolate. The deliciousness and creaminess will have you wanting to come back to the historic place!

2. The Fenway Frank: like its name says, this iconic dish is served at Fenway Park. It has been served since 1912 and since then, the recipe has changed to make them more popular than ever! The traditional hot dog is a great paring when watching baseball but nothing compares to the Fenway Frank at Fenway Park. Another option is The Sausage Guy, a famous cart in New England serving different type of sausages. They are at every Fenway game as well as many events occurring across the city!

3. Lobster & Clam Chowder: the chain Legal Seafoods has one of the best tasting lobster rolls of the city. Aside from this, their Clam Chowder is another must when visiting since it is served thick and creamy and made from clams that come from Cape Cod! Saltie Girl is another spot in the city that has incredible and fresh lobster rolls. Served either hot or cold, their lobster rolls will leave all lobster lovers wanting more!!

4. Cannolis: Boston has been well known for the delicious cannolis sold at the North End specially Mike’s Pastry. This beloved bakery always has long lines outside just because of how good it is! With over 19 different flavors to choose from, both locals and tourist love their pastries!

5. Fried Clams: fried seafood is another must when in Boston. Sullivans, a restaurant located on Castle Island, serves fried seafood and hot dogs. They are known for their fried clams which are served in fried strips or whole bellies on a toasted bun.

6. Roast Beef Sandwiches: Kelly’s Roast Beef is a famous New England roast beef sandwiches spot. This restaurant was founded on Revere Beach and it has become a local chain for its popular sandwiches serving medium-rare roast beef with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and barbecue sauce on a toasted bun.

7. Oysters: another Boston classic. Oysters can be found all around the city but the ones at La Brasa and Russell House Tavern are the best of the best! La Brasa offers $1 oysters every day 5pm-6pm and Russell House has $1 late-night oysters Sunday-Thursday from 9pm-10pm and Friday-Saturday 10pm-12pm.

8. Bagels: New York might be THE bagel spot but Bagelsaurus in Cambridge doesn’t stay far behind. They offer over 10 different flavors and even more spread options to choose from! Their long line outside is worth it after you try one of their unique and creative bagel sandwiches.
