A Celebration of Brother Blue (FREE)
Sunday July 11th from 4pm to 7pm - Brattle Plaza, Harvard Square
The Harvard Square Business Association has partnered up with the City of Cambridge, the Cambridge Arts Council, Councillor E. Denise Simmons, and Katie Green to bring an evening dedicated to commemorating the life and legacy of Brother Blue this Sunday July 11th from 4pm to 7pm. The event will take place at Brattle Plaza in Harvard Square.
Brother Blue, a storyteller, left an impact on millions throughout his career. He was a First Lieutenant in the segregated U.S. Army during World War II who received his bachelor’s degree at Harvard University and an MFA at Yale. He was able to enchant audiences no matter the age while bedecked in blue (including his iconic and well-known blue butterflies!). The event happening this Sunday will also commemorate his 100th birthday.
A plaque dedicated to him and his wife will be unveiled on this day and the Harvard Square ‘house band,’ also known as The Squares in the Square, will perform and guests will be able to enjoy a complimentary meal and some birthday cake! If you would like more information about the event as well as a detailed schedule for the evening, visit the Harvard Square website linked here!
Don’t forget to RSVP through their Facebook page prior to attending!
